Born on March, 27 1963 in Sofia. He graduated from the University of National and World Economy, Master’s Degree in “Accounting”.
From July 2014 to his election for President of the Bulgarian National Audit Office he is Member of the Governing Board of the Bulgarian National Television.
From January 2011 to April 2014 he is Vice-President of the Bulgarian National Audit Office.
From May 2006 to January 2011 he took the position Head of the Internal Audit Unit within the Bulgarian National Audit Office.
From 2001 to 2003 he is Adviser to the Minister of Finance on issues related to financial control and internal audit.
In 2000 he is appointed Head of “State Financial Control Directorate”. He leads the negotiations for harmonization of the national legislature with European regulations in the financial control field, as a result of which the State Financial Control Department is restructured into Public Internal Financial Control Agency and the internal control is introduced in the public sector. He headed the Public Internal Financial Control Agency to September 2001.
From 1988 to 1992 he is a financial inspector and chief financial comptroller in “State Financial Control Directorate, within the Ministry of Finance. From 1992 to 1996 he took the position of a Chief Financial Comptroller in “State Financial Control” Headquarters within the Ministry of Finance.
In 1996 - 1999 he is Head of Department “Organization and Methodology of the Financial Inspections at the Budget Spenders” to “State Financial Control” Directorate and Head of “Internal Financial Control and Inspection Department” within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Tzvetan Tzvetkov is one of the founders of the Institute of Internal Auditors in Bulgaria in 2003 which is affiliate of the International Institute of Internal Auditors. Chairman of the Board of Managers in the periods 2003-2008 and 2009-2010.
He possesses the following certificates: “Internal Auditor in the Public Sector”issued by the Ministry of Finance as well as the following international certificates issued by the International Institute of Internal Auditors: CIA (Certified Internal Auditor), CGAP (international certificate for auditor in the public sector) and CRMA (Certification in Risk Management Assurance).
Member of the Board of Managers of the European Confederation of the Institutes for Internal Audit (ECIIA) from 2007 to 2010.
Participant and leading lecturer in many international conferences and professional forums in the field of financial control, internal audit, risk management etc.
Chief Editor of “Financial Control” Journal (2001-2005) and “Internal Auditor” Magazine (2004-2005).
He speaks English and Russian.
Married with two children.
The National Assembly elected him President of the National Audit Office of the Republic of Bulgaria on March 26, 2015.
